NEW: Insight Art Monthly
FIRST ENVELOPES MAIL JANUARY 15, 2027
Each month, a piece of contemplative art arrives in your mailbox, with a short guided meditation and a question to carry through your days. Fifteen minutes is enough to begin.
You've read the books and listened to the dharma talks. You've saved the quotes. And on too many days, that wisdom stays in your head while your calendar runs your life.
Maybe you've meditated for years and you're curious what a contemplative art practice could open. Or maybe sitting in silence has never come easily, and you've been looking for a way into the teachings that fits.

Coming in January:
Visualizing a better world
Insight Art Monthly is for you if...
Your mind settles more easily when your eyes have somewhere to rest.
Images reach you in ways words sometimes can't.
You have an established practice and want to see what working with art adds to it.
You spend enough of your life on screens and want your practice to live somewhere else.
You don't have a sangha nearby, or your schedule doesn't fit one.

I've spent years studying the teachings, and I know how easily they stay in my head. Art is how I bring them into my body. When I slow down to look at an image, I notice what I'd otherwise rush past.
I'm a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, trained with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and I'm in dharma teacher training through the Buddhadharma Studies Institute. I also lead Insight Art Journal, a live community practicing with art and the dharma.
Each month, I make or choose a piece of art for this practice and send it to you.

The art is where it begins. The practice is what it opens.
1. Your envelope arrives.
Mid-month, in your own mailbox, addressed to you.
2. Arrive and settle.
Scan the QR code for a short guided meditation that brings you into the month's practice.
3. Look, then look again.
Spend time with the image and the month's question. There's no right way to see it.
4. Carry it with you.
Keep the art where you'll see it. Let the question travel through your days, and return as often as you like.
Set aside 15 to 30 minutes when your envelope arrives. The rest of the month, the practice comes with you.

An original art print. A 4"x6" or 5"x7" print on heavy cardstock, made for slow looking. Prop it on your desk, frame it, or tuck it into an album or journal for future reflections.
A guided audio meditation. About 5-7 minutes, reached by QR code, to help you arrive and settle into the month's practice.
A contemplation prompt. One question to carry into ordinary life.
Karma Kard guidance. A simple invitation to make a small handmade response. More on that below.
A note from me. A few words on what this month's image and teaching mean to me.
A small delight. A sticker, a tiny linocut, a paper surprise. It changes month to month.

You don't have to make anything beautiful.
The optional Karma Kard practice
Each month includes simple guidance for making a Karma Kard, a small handmade card that gives form to what you've noticed. Start with scrap cardboard from your recycling bin. The month's guidance walks you through the rest.
Keep it as a reminder, or share it with someone who could use encouragement. Each card carries your intention out into the world.
The Karma Kard is there when you want it. Some months you'll make one, some months you won't.
The year begins with an inquiry into what you hope for. January's practice invites you to envision the world you want to help make, and to notice how that intention shapes what you do with your days. We'll be working with a bit of abstract art, so you can bring your own interpretation and unique insight to what a better world means to you and how you can turn hope into action.
Sign up by January 10 to receive the first envelope mailed on January 15.
Insight Art Monthly is a guided contemplative practice you can explore in your own time. Each month, a mailing brings together art, a reflection prompt, a guided audio meditation, and an optional invitation to make a Karma Kard. The art is a place to begin—not something you need to interpret correctly.
A Karma Kard is an optional small, handmade response to the month’s practice—an expression of attention, intention, or care. You might keep it, give it to someone, or simply enjoy making it. It doesn’t need to be beautiful or polished.
Every month is different. One month might bring an abstract watercolor, another an ink drawing made after a meditation sit, a small collage, or a detail from a larger painting. Each piece is made to open that month's question, and part of the practice is meeting it fresh when the envelope arrives.
No. The meditation guides you step by step, and the art is there to look at. Whether you've practiced for decades or are just beginning, you'll find a way in.
You might set aside 15–30 minutes to begin with the art, meditation, and reflection prompt. You can return to the image or carry the question with you throughout the month. There’s no schedule to keep up with.
Envelopes mail on the 15th of each month. Sign up by the 10th to receive that month's envelope. If you join after the 10th, your first one arrives the following month. The first envelopes mail January 15, 2027.
