A monthly practice with the visual journal
Join us each month for a guided visual journaling practice. These live sessions offer a structured, creative space to slow down, notice what’s arising, and explore insight through image, color, and reflection.
Sessions are facilitated by Pam Hausner, whose work draws from contemplative practice and visual inquiry while remaining accessible to people of all backgrounds.
What to expect
You’re invited to work with simple materials and whatever art supplies you have on hand. Each month introduces a different point of inquiry, offering a gentle structure while leaving room for personal meaning to emerge.
This is not about artistic skill or self-improvement. It’s a practice of attention, curiosity, and integration.

What does a typical session look like?
At the beginning of a series, we often create a simple handmade journal using basic materials. This helps establish a personal, tactile relationship with the practice. The act of making the journal is part of settling in and preparing to work visually.
If you’re new to handmade journals, you can use the short video below for guidance. You’re also welcome to use a purchased journal. The best journal is simply the one you’ll return to.
Brief mindfulness practice
Each session begins with a short period of mindfulness practice, usually five to ten minutes. This helps bring attention into the present moment and supports a more receptive way of working. At times, this may include a brief guided visualization.
Teaching and guided art practice.
Approximately 1.5-2 hours
The structure varies from session to session, but generally includes gentle instruction followed by guided work in the visual journal. The focus is on noticing patterns of thought, feeling, and response as they appear on the page.
This is not about fixing or improving yourself. It’s an opportunity to see more clearly how you relate to experience, and to work with that relationship in a steady, compassionate way.
